–
The ALI Awards Committee met today
to decide the winners of
artists for the 2005 ALI Awards®,
presented by the Association of
Lifecasters International.
"This
unique award was created to promote
public awareness of the art of life
casting, which is an ancient art
form dating back 3500 years,"
said Ed McCormick, Co-founder and
Managing Director of ALI. "But
for our first year we also want to
emphasize the spirit of giving. The
ALI Awards will be given to artists
who have created a meritorious life
casting work, which has been gifted
to a member of the general public.
We are as interested in the story
behind the gift as we are in the
work itself, as this is a contest
about using creativity in the
service of the world."
It
was decided that the following
artists will receive this year’s
ALI Award for the: “Artistic
Achievement in the Service of
Humanity” category: First place to
Brent and Shirley Cairns of New
Zealand for their ‘Pregnancy
Casting’ series; First Runner
Up to Joe Canger of New Brunswick,
N.J. for his Spredhaus Band;
Second Runner Up to Bob Koons,
Texas, for ‘Elektra’; and
Third Runner Up to C.J. Munn of
Kent, England for “With Love
From Daddy.
The
ALI Awards Committee includes Ed
McCormick, Roy Butler and Dave
Parvin.
The
ALI Awards will be presented
annually. Next year’s competition
will expand award categories to
enable additional participation.
