I have recently started doing lifecasting demonstrations at the Guild of Erotic Artists (www.theguildoferoticartists.com) gala days. I talk my audience through the process of moulding and casting and demonstrate on a live model. I encourage them to take one of my flyers in the hope of a commision. Luckily, the demonstrations take place in a venue where the work of two other lifecasters is on display (www.beaumonthallstudios.co.uk) so i am able to talk about different styles of lifecasting.
It occured to me that although there are three different styles on display it would be nice to be able to show people the fuller scope of what lifecasting entails.
I always encourage people to follow the link from my site to the ALI website but that does not work too well with a live audience. My first thought was to download images from the web and show people what lifecasters around the world are doing- taking care to attribute the work to the artist. With all the controversy about using other peoples stuff that approach worried me. I feel it is important that people realise that there are as many different forms of lifecasting as there are lifecast artits.
Then i had a brilliant idea- why doesn't ALI produce a downloadable flyer featuring some of the artists-a bit like the panel on the left of the website together with brief explanation of the associations' aims. This would show the vast range of styles available worldwide, promote the idea of ALI membership and the professional approach taken by its members- and give me something to show my audience!!!
I am unaware of anything that explains to people why they should use ALI members for their casting apart from the website and this would seem to meet this need. Members could hand them to their potential customers.
Comments please

What if the flyer (detailing different styles, standards, and a few photos with a little blurb about ALI) was available on the website for members to be able to download? With so many copy centres available printing business cards, flyers, ads, pamphets, a member shouldn't have a problem getting them printed for use in a number they see fit.
That way the cost to ALI is time and effort in production of the digital form, but printing costs are left up to the user to cover. ALI could also recommend the size and quality (of print and paper) for best results with the graphic. Perhaps you've already worked this out in your mind?
My computer graphics skills are not exceptional, but I'm willing to organize photos and information into something subject to the governing member's approval that would fit on a 3.5" disk. I would need to correspond with more experienced artists to ensure the most appropriate and accurate information is conveyed.

My bad, you do have the "downloadable" aspect in there. Sorry about that. Serves me right for only giving the posting a glance.
