Topic Subject : Using old molds |
|
Occassionally, when I do a lifecast and I really like it, I'll make a permanent mold using either silicone or urethane. Resently I was working on a job for a client reproducing and making multiples of a sculpture. I was casting them in a mixture of urethane and marble dust. On the first cast I miss calculated the volume that I needed and had about 3 quarts too much. I only had a couple of minutes to do something with this overpour so I quickly grabbed a resently made urethane mold
(it was the mold of 'pic1' in my nov 5th post) and poured it in. The result was a nice small peice that really doesn't even resemble the original and I only had a very few minutes in producing it. I'm posting a pic of it.
